Reviews
We had the pleasure of dining at La Speranzina in Sirmione for our New Year's Eve celebration, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. Everything, from the service to the food to the location, was absolutely superb.
The service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel truly welcomed. They went out of their way to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was enjoyable.
The food was simply exquisite. Each dish was prepared with care and attention to detail. The flavors were rich and beautifully balanced, and the presentation was a work of art. My favorite dish was the gorgonzola-filled tortellini (and I am not even a big fan of cheese so, yes, they were that good). It was evident that the chefs are passionate about their craft, and it truly showed in every bite.
The restaurant's location right by the picturesque shores of Lake Garda added to the overall charm of the evening. The view was amazing, and it created a romantic atmosphere.
Our cenone di Capodanno at La Speranzina was a wonderful experience and will be cherished. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Sirmione. Whether it's a special occasion or a gourmet dining experience, this restaurant is the perfect choice.
We had a 2 night stay here as part of our honeymoon road trip. We had a lovely stay and the room was beautiful, set underneath the restaurant our room was vast with a jacuzzi bath, large super comfortable bed and more features than you can ever imagine using.
We had booked hotel parking but the concierge was unwilling to park the car in the hotel garage as it was right hand drive so it was put in a car park just out of the town (something to consider).
Breakfast was good although it did feel like it needed more staff as there were waits to order and receive items and drinks. We didn’t use the restaurant as I personally prefer simpler cuisine, the setting is stunning though. There was a noisy wedding late on into the evening in the restaurant above our room one evening, which did disrupt our privacy and relaxation.
My overall impression of the venue is its more a restaurant with rooms than a hotel. There’s no bar area and it wasn’t possible to have a drink on the balcony if not eating. The very friendly and helpful manager mentioned future plans to install a pool and move more towards a hotel model which I think would benefit the property. Although we enjoyed our stay I don’t think we would return in its current incarnation, if it did move to the hotel model with pool, bar, stopping of private functions above the room in the evenings then we would return.
The ambiance was incredible. I enjoyed the initial kitchen and wine cellar tour. Food presentation was impeccable. Wine service was lacking. Wine ordered with the 2nd course never came, and when it did it was only a partial glass.
Overall, not worth the high price.
We were lucky to snag a last minute lunch reservation in peak season. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and views and highly recommend La Speranzina.
Parking in Sirmione can be extremely difficult and we had to park a mile away and walk. Despite arriving 30 minutes late for our reservation, the staff were delightful and started us off with a brief tour of the kitchen and wine cellar. The restaurant was quiet with only 3 other tables occupied for a Wednesday lunch. We sat outside and enjoyed a gorgeous view of the lake. We ordered a la carte and loved every course: Estate 2023 salad; crispy scampi and sea bass (adjusted to be cooked thoroughly for a pregnant guest); tortelli with gorgonzola and mascarpone; and black lemon risotto. For dessert we went with the super creamy vanilla gelato and a peach clafoutis which arrived with a little homemade kombucha. The flavors were mostly subtle and let the fresh ingredients shine through. You can’t go wrong.
The wine list is extensive but we kept it simple with a few glasses of a lovely refreshing local Lugana.
Excellent dinner at the Michelin star restaurant - innovative and unique, while very Italian. Incredible wine selection. And unique custom ceramics! Highly recommend if you are in the area.
"Disappointing" is the word i would use to describe my experience.
It's a 1 star michelin restaurant, so i expected unique flavours with impeccable service. What i got was hit or miss experiments with very slow service.
The char tartar was great, if you removed the fish roe. It was added to balance the richness of the fish but its completely overpowered the delicate nature of char.
The cold spaghetti was good, strong umami and well used fish, but it needs some work. The tagliolini with lobster and gorgonzola was surprisingly great.
The lamb was just fine, nothing exceptional. I had a much more memorable lamb dish in a different restaurant I went to without a michelin recognition.
Yes the view is quite nice, but there's plenty of restaurants like that.
The service was all over, very little attention paid when we wanted something or ran out of wine/water. We could not bare the heat (there was ac but it was not turned on) and left before dessert, waiting for over 20 minutes to even order which desserts we are going to have.
There's too many gripes to list but we really expected so much more from a michelin restaurant. This is not an experience worth 150+ euros pp. and i would even question if they deserve a michelin star.
To call it a 5* hotel is an understatement. This is the first- class treatment for your soul. Waking up by the lake, being able to jump into the water straight from your terrace, top class breakfast with THAT view. Even driving to the hotel is a unique experience. Very friendly towards pets & guests. Two things you need to be aware of is that the terrace is accesible from the public beach and that shower and toilet walls are transparent.
We only visited the restaurant, not the hotel but we left a bit disappointed.
We arrived with high expectations considering the michelin star and the hefty price tag of 150+eu pp. Once we arrived, we were impressed by the beautiful location. We were welcomed by a friendly staff member that offered a tour of the premise including the kitchen and wine cellar which was very nice.
Our table was on the terrace with a great view overlooking lake garda. The atmosphere was private and very elegant. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. Not necessarily because of the service which was good, but mainly due to our expectations not aligning with the food experience.
We ordered the 5 course tasting menu and ordered (sparkling) wine by the glass. The dishes were of good quality and the presentation on the plates was nice but not one course was able to surprise us in taste or texture. The food felt uninspired and could use some fresh wind and courage.
Unfortunately, I don't think that this experience was worth the money and I won't recommend the restaurant.
